Delicious bolognese lasagna

“Ingredients”

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 1/2 pound (225g) ground pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

“Instructions”

  1. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and pork over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, and chopped celery to the skillet. Cook until vegetables are softened.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, red wine, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with a beaten egg until well combined.
  7. In a baking dish, layer lasagna as follows: a thin layer of meat sauce, a layer of noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, a third of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Repeat layers, finishing with a layer of meat sauce and remaining cheeses on top.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Enjoy your delicious homemade lasagna bolognese!

Certainly! Here's a continuation

  1. Once rested, slice the lasagna into portions and serve hot. The layers should be beautifully melded together.
  2. Consider pairing your lasagna with a side salad and some crusty bread for a complete meal.
  3. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator. Lasagna tends to taste even better the next day as the flavors continue to develop.
  4. Feel free to customize the recipe by adding vegetables like mushrooms or spinach to the layers for extra flavor and nutrition.
  5. If you're looking to make this ahead, you can assemble the lasagna and refrigerate it overnight. Just bake it when you're ready to serve.
  6. Experiment with different cheese blends or try adding a sprinkle of nutmeg to the ricotta for a subtle twist.

Enjoy your lasagna bolognese culinary adventure!
